Segundo reportagem da revista inglesa “Autosport”, Ron Dennis confirmou que permanece na chefia da McLaren em 2008, contrariando todas as especulações recentes na imprensa especializada.O dirigente de 60 anos, inclusive, já embarcou para Melbourne, onde será disputada a etapa de abertura da temporada 2008 da F-1, com a promessa de que não deixará o cargo.Nas últimas semanas, diversas reportagens na Europa, principalmente na Espanha, deram como certa a aposentadoria de Dennis, que assumiu o controle do time em 1980 e acumula três funções dentro do Grupo McLaren: presidente, chefe-executivo e diretor-esportivo da equipe de F-1.Dennis teria feito o anúncio aos integrantes da equipe antes de partir para a Austrália. "Posso dizer que nossa estrutura administrativa está inalterada", afirmou Norbert Haug, chefe da divisão de esportes da Mercedes.
